How to spot flat head syndrome

If you are unsure if your child has a form of Flat Head Syndrome please look for any of the following signs.
- Bony ridges
- Ears that look different from each other
- Ears or eyes that are not level
- Flat areas
- Two sides of the face that do not match each other (asymmetry)
- Tall cone shaped head
- Uneven forehead
- Wide face
When and how to act
If your child is showing any of the above signs or you are simply not sure, please do not hesitate to get in touch. The early a flattening or mis shaping to the head is spotted the greater the opportunity to influence the skull shape with or without helmet therapy. At Orthotics UK we offer a completely free initial assessment. At this assessment we will carry out a visual assessment and commonly we take scans and measurements. Where possible we encourage repositioning techniques to allow the head to improve naturally without helmet therapy.
