Our paediatric and adult lycra clinics are multidisciplinary, drawing where appropriate from the experience of physiotherapists, orthotists, occupational therapists and podiatrists.
Lycra clinic
Lycra orthotics are easily concealed orthotic devices that can be worn underneath your clothes. They can be used by both children and adults and are helpful for:
- Relieving pain
- Combating high tone
- Preventing contracture
- Reducing unwanted movements eg ataxia
- Increasing your awareness of your body in space
- Improving your posture and core stability
- Rehabilitating and preventing sports injuries
Our paediatric and adult lycra clinics are multidisciplinary, drawing where appropriate from the experience of physiotherapists, orthotists, occupational therapists and podiatrists.
Your clinician will discuss the process and your treatment options in depth with you and if you choose to use a lycra orthotic garment then they will collect a series of measurements. It is important that we can achieve a perfect fit so each of our lycra orthoses are bespoke.
The measurements will then be sent to the manufacturers and will will arrange an appointment for you to see your clinician so that the device can be supplied to you. At this appointment we will check the fit and make sure that everything is perfect for you before you take the garment away.
After this we will arrange regular reviews to ensure that you are making the most out of the service.
